10 ideas to make you picture round quizzes great!

    Famous People - The most popular type of picture round. Famous people may include TV celebs, actors, musicians, people from history, politicians and sporting greats. The list is endless. Again, be careful about copyright.

    Animals - This is another popular category with plenty of online images available. There are many strange and wonderful animals from around the world to include in this category, from aardvark to zebra.

    Country Outlines - Can you recognise a country from its outline? Easy images would be the UK, Australia and New Zealand but do you know Croatia from its profile? With 20 images it's easy to include a mix of easy and not so easy images.

  2. 4.

    Cities - Images of cities which could mean world, European and/or British cities. Photos such as Portsmouth's Spinnaker Tower and Manchester's Beetham Tower, or go more exotic with the Las Vegas sign or Sydney Harbour Bridge. There should be plenty of images online to create this picture round.

  3. 5.

    Chocolate Bars - This is a fun quiz best played by chocoholics. Use images of various chocolate bars or take your own images. Obscure the names on the wrappers and ask you quizzers to identify each bar. Could be extended to include other snacks such as SKips (my favourite) or individual chocolates from a tub of Quality Street, etc.

    Football Badges - The title is self explanatory. Probably best kept for a sports quiz rather than a general pub quiz. Check for copyright issues although other pub quiz websites do use them in picture rounds.

    Logos - Every company has a logo, from McDonald's to Nestle, from the Lacoste crocodile to Audi's four silver rings. You could show just part of the logo to make things more difficult. There's even a 'logo board game', so logos might be a popular category.

    Landmarks - Similar to our cities suggestion further down the list. Images might include the Angel of the North, Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Taj Mahal or the Kelpies in Scotland. There's literaly hundreds of famous landmarks in the UK and around the world to choose from.

    Album Covers - There's lots of famous and iconic music album covers. You'll have to remove the band names and titles.

  2. 10.

    Famous Paintings - Even non-art lovers have a knowledge of well known paintings such as Van Gogh's Sunflowers. Ask quizzers to name the famous artists.
